This course offers a timely opportunity for attorneys to learn about the rules and regulations governing disciplinary actions and appeals in certain sports at the Winter Olympics, even if they do not practice sports law. This course will describe the basic procedure for challenging disciplinary actions and appeal-worthy occurrences that arise in the Winter Olympic sports.  Additionally, attorneys can educate themselves further on the rules and regulations governing the sports covered herein.

This program will cover the rules of procedure for challenging disciplinary actions and filing appeals with the governing bodies of several of the world’s Winter Olympic sports, as well as any hot topics and trends in these areas.

Practitioners who either practice, dabble in, or are otherwise interested in learning more about the regulatory procedures behind certain sports featured in the Winter Olympics are encouraged to attend this course.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Assess ways to educate athlete clients in various sports about how to avoid and mitigate certain violations of their chosen Winter Olympic sport’s rules and regulations.
  2. Explore where to look and what to think about when faced with an athlete in a specific Winter Olympics sport who has a rule and regulatory issue that arises in the course of their career or during a particular bout or competition.
  3. Review the basics behind the regulatory and legal procedures of some of the world’s professional combat sports.
