This program will identify and review First Amendment cases on the Supreme Court’s docket, including examining how modern technology affects Freedom of Speech. Attendees will learn about Supreme Court jurisprudence on the First Amendment and how the internet and technological advancements have challenged that jurisprudence in cases like TikTok v. Garland and Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton.

Attendees will learn about the appointment process, Justices’ judicial perspectives, and how the most recent Supreme Court appointments have altered the composition of the Court. Mr. Bendistis will discuss First Amendment cases to assist participants with governing standards, tests, and elements. The program will also cover historical instances in which the Court was challenged by novel technological issues involving the Internet and social media. Recent Free Speech cases will be discussed, and the course will go through how the current Court has resolved them and how those cases may help predict the outcome of possible issues for the future of the internet and technology.

This course is suitable for attorneys with little to no experience and attorneys with a moderate amount of experience who are interested in how the internet is affecting and further defining what is considered free speech.
