Mr. Tallmer begins the course by defining police brutality and the federal laws governing excessive force. He explains the history of police brutality laws and provides an overview of federal criminal and civil statutes. The laws governing criminal activity by local police officers are explored, and Mr. Tallmer discusses the state laws governing excessive force and police brutality. He also goes through private suits by victims of police misconduct. Lastly, he will discuss the federal laws governing police corruption. Mr. Tallmer concludes this course by going over real-life cases and Supreme Court decisions.
