Icon About This Course

For decades, the legal profession has sought ways to prevent and ameliorate what have heretofore been described as "substance abuse" problems among lawyers – recently renamed to "substance use disorders" (SUDs). This program delves into the issue of SUDs in the legal profession, beginning with the history of substance use disorders in the profession and moving on to discuss its various causes. Various preventive measures such as education, regulations, and disciplinary procedures are also examined, and attendees will be able to collaboratively discuss new ideas and proposals to combat this issue. Finally, this program will emphasize the importance of understanding and analyzing physical and psychological health insights as potential tools to serve the goal of ameliorating or remedying SUDs in the legal profession.

This program is an interactive seminar open to attorneys of all levels and areas interested in learning more about and discussing substance use disorders.
