Icon About This Course

As if practicing law wasn’t difficult enough, lawyers now must navigate appropriate uses of AI, while continuing to produce quality work efficiently. This program addresses the practical reality that AI tools are already transforming legal practice, and attorneys must understand how to leverage them effectively and ethically.

Attendees will learn how to effectively integrate AI into their appellate practices and other writing and oral argument-related tasks. Participants will also learn how to use AI tools for case analysis, brief review and suggestions for content, and oral argument preparation. Attendees will also learn which tasks are appropriate and inappropriate for AI assistance and those requiring human judgment.

The program is designed for appellate attorneys but can be equally applicable for any litigator who prepares motions and/or argues them in trial courts.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify different ways AI can enhance appellate/litigation practice, including research starting points or verification, argument testing, and brief review.
  2. Evaluate ethical boundaries and professional responsibility considerations when using AI tools in appellate/litigation practice.
  3. Apply AI tools to improve case analysis.
  4. Develop strategies for effectively using AI to prepare for oral argument.
