Icon About This Course

This program will help attorneys to understand how giving strategically can benefit clients during big (and often wealth-triggering) life events. Learn about today’s philanthropic landscape, giving vehicle options, gifting the right asset at the right time, and potentially reducing capital gains and estate taxes through charitable giving.

An expert panel will discuss how attorneys can help their clients build their charitable impact during and after life, specifically by contributing complex assets to public charities. Such assets include privately-held C-and S-corp stock, limited partnership interests, and certain publicly-traded stock.

Attorneys of intermediate practice level seeking to further their knowledge to guide their clients on complex assets and charitable giving will benefit from attending this program.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the benefits of giving strategically, including what assets to give and the timing of the gift
  • Evaluate how to help your client build a charitable legacy
  • Apply smart charitable planning effectively for a meaningful solution when clients experience wealth-triggering events, such as the sale of a business or receiving an inheritance
  • Identify key client segments to target and consider planning strategies for complex charitable contributions
  • List where to turn for support and resources
