Understanding the West Virginia CLE Requirement
Total CLE Requirement:
24 credit hours every two years
12 hours must be taken live
12 may be completed online. *The Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia has waived the online and in-house credit limitation for the 2020-2022 reporting period. Additionally, all fully interactive, synchronous broadcasts are now considered Live under the new CLE rules that went into effect on July 1, 2020. New rule 6.09(j).

Newly Admitted Requirement:
Members admitted to the West Virginia State Bar after July 1, 2018 are subject to the new Bridge the Gap Program, which requires mandatory in-person attendance at one of the West Virginia State Bar's two seminars to be held annually. The training sessions will occur once at the State Bar Annual Meeting and a second time at a geographically different location each calendar year.
Each new lawyer admitted to practice after July 1, 2018 will have twenty-four months after their date of admission to complete the program.
