About The Lecturer

Mary Ellen O'Connor is the founder and principal attorney of O'Connor Law PLLC, a firm she established in 2009 in Larchmont, New York, with an additional office in the Bronx. She is widely recognized for her work in workers' compensation, social security disability, and personal injury law. Mary Ellen is admitted to practice in New York State, having earned her bar admission in 2005, and she has since become a respected leader in her field. She currently serves on the boards of the Injured Workers Bar Association and the Workers' Compensation Alliance and has been recognized as a Super Lawyers attorney from 2023 through 2025.

Her path to law began in the classroom, where she started her professional life as a kindergarten through second-grade teacher. During that time, she saw children struggling to access services for learning disabilities, which inspired her to pursue a law degree. During her 2L years, her personal life was impacted when her husband suffered a serious workplace injury. It left the family without income for nearly six months. This experience shaped her perspective and solidified her dedication to helping injured and disabled workers navigate complex legal systems.

Mary Ellen holds a Juris Doctor from CUNY School of Law, a Master of Science from the College of Mount St. Vincent, and a Bachelor of Science from SUNY Albany. From 2005 to 2007, she worked at Shouse and later at the Special Funds, gaining extensive experience in workers' compensation law. From 2007 to 2018, she served as Of Counsel, where she trained statewide attorneys in workers' compensation and handled more than 10,000 hearings, appeals, and depositions. In 2009, she hung her shingle and began O'Connor Law PLLC, where she continues to advocate for the injured and disabled of New York.

Through her personal experiences, academic achievements, and professional dedication, Mary Ellen O'Connor has built a career defined by advocacy, empathy, and a commitment to justice. She continues to lead O'Connor Law PLLC with a focus on standing up for injured and disabled workers while remaining deeply rooted in her profession and community.
