About The Lecturer
Blane McCarthy is a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer and a Certified Circuit Mediator whose law practice is now limited to conducting mediations. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (magna cum laude) from Stetson University in 1992 and a Juris Doctorate degree (cum laude) from Stetson University College of Law in 1995. He is 2023-2024 President of the Jacksonville Bar Association, and is also a member of the Florida Bar, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the Christian Legal Society, the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, and the Florida Society of Circuit Civil Mediators.
Current Practice = Full-Time Mediator: In 2000, the Supreme Court of Florida certified Mr. McCarthy to conduct Circuit Mediations. He has mediated over 600 cases, primarily in the fields of personal injury, commercial litigation, settlement conferences, and probate. Mr. McCarthy has also mediated contract disputes, PIP, consumer, nursing home, insurance, collections, and HOA cases. Mr. McCarthy chaired the Jacksonville Bar Association’s ADR Practitioners’ section for eight years before being elected to the Association’s Board of Governors in 2013. He joined Miles Mediation & Arbitration in August 2021 to transition to full-time mediation and to help MM&A open its Jacksonville, Florida office. Mr. McCarthy offers in-person, virtual, or hybrid mediations.
Prior Practice = Injury Lawyer & Mediator: Prior to transitioning to full-time mediation, Mr. McCarthy primarily represented injury victims. He achieved Board Certification (Civil Trial) by the Florida Bar in 2010 and has the highest ratings available from Martindale Hubbell (5.0 AV) and Avvo (10.0). He handled cases involving a wide spectrum of injuries - from broken fingers to catastrophic third-degree burns to death.
