In this course, attendees will learn about modern ethical misconduct through an in-depth discussion of relevant case studies and engaging with self-reflective questions. Cases examined in this program include In re Colin, N.C. State Bar Association v. Foster, Board of Professional Responsibility v. Parrish, and In re Seastrunk. Attorneys attending the program will leave with a broader and clearer understanding of the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct and how different states and courts have adopted them. 

Attorneys of all levels are encouraged to attend this course to gain a complete understanding of the ethics rules, specifically in the courtroom, within the legal profession.

Learning Objectives:

  • Enumerate questions to ask oneself to choose a logical, ethical, and sensible course of action in the legal profession
  • Explain how engaging in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice and acting with reckless disregard for the truth is disrespectful to the legal profession
  • Interpret why disrupting a tribunal with angry exclamations or outbursts damages the reputation of attorneys and the legal profession
  • Discuss how Brady v. Maryland informs courts’ decisions on prosecutorial duty
