Icon About This Course

Attend this program and learn about the evolution of both the hemp industry and the regulations by which the industry must abide.

Discussions will include what is working, what is not, and where operators are still operating in legal gray areas or entirely afoul of the law. Attendees will also learn about the benefits and shortfalls of hemp products. The lecture will conclude with a discussion on the upcoming Federal Farm Bill and likely changes we will see to regulations at the federal and state levels. Attorneys will come away with an enhanced knowledge of the controlled substances act, hemp industry regulation, marijuana industry regulation, the difference between the two, hemp’s many uses, and state and federal responses to novel cannabinoid products.

Attorneys from all levels of experience with clients in cannabis industries; attorneys with clients in real estate, agriculture, business, or banking; defense attorneys taking controlled substance cases implicating cannabis; and anyone else interested in learning more about marijuana and hemp should attend this program.

Learning Objectives:

  • Evaluate federal and state Controlled Substances Acts (CSAs) and the exemptions made for hemp
  • Investigate an overview of the Farm Bill, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulation of hemp and hemp products
