Leadership to Address Implicit Bias in the Legal Profession
About
This Course
Addressing the effects of implicit bias in the legal profession is critically important in the highly diverse legal profession. Legal professionals are increasingly expected to address implicit bias in their organizations, from policies and best practices to education and inclusive leadership. Many of these leaders in the law profession and the practice of law understand that corporate and non-profit clients are themselves addressing the negative effects of implicit bias and expect their lawyers and legal advisors to be deeply engaged in that process.
This program, taught by two highly experienced experts in the importance of DEI initiatives in law organizations and the best practices to address implicit bias, will assist in building awareness of implicit bias and how it impacts decision-making. It will also show the effects of implicit bias in the legal profession and the myriad problems it causes. Lastly, it will provide strategies for disrupting implicit bias and steps for becoming more inclusive leaders.
This course is ideal for lawyers in management and leadership roles in law organizations, lawyers who direct other professionals and staff in their organizations, and partners and associates who have some responsibility for DEI policies and practices. As the course will address more in-depth concepts related to DEI policies, some background knowledge and experience are recommended.
