About This Course

This program will discuss important legal and business fundamentals that any legal professional should consider when advising their entrepreneurial clients who are interested in starting their cannabis business on the right foot. Starting a cannabis business carries with it a lot more legal red tape than a non-cannabis business, and therefore approaching such a business from a thoughtful perspective will not only save time, but also resources in the long run.

Attorneys will learn how to form a cannabis business and how to think about expansion,  approach protecting intellectual property, and market and advertise. Finally, attorneys will learn about some of the most common regulatory hurdles that cannabis business owners face, such as regulatory compliance with business locations and financing issues.

Legal professionals who have basic or intermediate experience and represent clients looking to start a cannabis business – or expand it – should attend this program.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the legal and business fundamentals of a cannabis enterprise

  • Learn about the financial and regulatory compliance issues

  • Explore how to manage a cannabis intellectual property portfolio
