Ethical Standards Evolving with Technological Advances
About
This Course
Technology is advancing at the fastest rate ever in human history. In only thirty years, the proliferation of email correspondence, cloud-based data storage, virtual hearings, artificial intelligence research, and drafting assistance has become commonplace. Practitioners must be profoundly adaptable to react to and incorporate such advances. However, more than simply incorporating new tech is required. Lawyers must consider how ethical standards evolve alongside practice methods and tools.
This program will teach attorneys to be open and adaptable when evaluating practice-enhancing technology while being cautious and cognizant of ethical commensurate implications. Email brought fast communication but also resulted in inadvertent disclosures. Cloud data storage enabled masses of data to be stored and accessed easily but also yielded security concerns. Search engines revolutionized advertising but also resulted in metadata manipulations. AI has revolutionized research yet has created credibility concerns. Attorneys should attend this program to understand the interplay between technology developments and evolving ethical requirements.
This program will cover practice elements relevant to all legal professionals. It will be most relevant to decision-makers and policy setters, but associate-level attorneys will also benefit.
