Important Dates:

  • New Jersey CLE Deadline: December 31  
  • Compliance Group 1: Attorneys born January through June report in even-numbered years  
  • Compliance Group 2: Attorneys born July through December report in odd-numbered years  
 

IMPORTANT CHANGES:
Effective January 1, 2024, the New Jersey Supreme Court will reinstate the requirement for 12 credits of live instruction as part of your CLE. This includes both in-person classes and interactive online formats that allow real-time engagement with instructors.

Newly Admitted Lawyer Requirements:
During your first full two-year compliance period, you must earn 16 credit hours in at least 6 of the following 12 subject areas:

  • New Jersey Basic Estate Administration
  • New Jersey Basic Estate Planning
  • New Jersey Civil or Criminal Trial Preparation
  • New Jersey Family Law Practice
  • New Jersey Real Estate Closing Procedures
  • New Jersey Attorney Trust and Business Accounting Fundamentals
  • New Jersey Landlord/Tenant Practice
  • New Jersey Municipal Court Practice
  • New Jersey Law Office Management
  • New Jersey Administrative Law
  • New Jersey Workers’ Compensation Law
  • New Jersey Labor and Employment Law
 

At least 1 of the 16 required credits must be in New Jersey Attorney Trust and Business Accounting Fundamentals.
