Understanding the Utah CLE Requirement
Total CLE Requirement:
24 credit hours every two years<br/><br/> 12 credit hours every year for attorneys that complied with the 2021 reporting period; are now required to change from a two-year CLE reporting period to a one-year compliance cycle beginning July 1, 2021.
12 hours must be taken live
12 may be completed online
*For attorneys in the new one-year compliance cycle. 6 hours must be taken live
6 may be completed online

21 hours General
2 hours Ethics or Professional Responsibility
1 hour of Professionalism and Civility
*For attorneys in the new one-year compliance cycle. 10 hours General and 1 hour of Legal Ethics and 1 hour of Professionalism and Civility
TRTCLE reports completed courses to the Utah State Bar every 30 days.
Newly Admitted Requirement:
New admittees must complete the Utah State Board’s “New Lawyer Training Program” and “New Lawyer Ethics Program” in addition to 12 general CLE credits during their first compliance period.
