About The Lecturer

Anne Hamer is a seasoned family law attorney and partner at Hamer & Taylor, with offices in Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee. She concentrates her practice on high-asset, high-conflict divorce and custody matters, providing sophisticated legal counsel with compassion, discretion, and strategic clarity. Anne is particularly known for diffusing destructive litigation tactics and helping clients preserve both their assets and emotional well-being throughout the divorce process.

Anne’s approach is shaped by over two decades of litigation experience and extensive training as a Rule 31 certified civil and family law mediator, including additional training in domestic violence mediation. She leverages these skills to guide her clients through high-conflict disputes, advocating fiercely when needed while also facilitating smart, future-focused compromises. Her focus is always on protecting the best interests of children and helping parents develop parenting plans that foster stability and growth within new family structures.

A single mother of two, Anne brings lived experience to her practice, offering insights that extend beyond traditional legal strategy. She understands that in family law, winning an argument isn’t always the same as doing what’s best for the family—and especially the children.

Anne is widely respected within the legal community and has earned significant recognition for her leadership and excellence.

Anne has been recognized annually since 2023 as a Best Lawyer in America in the family law field.

In 2022, she was named a Tennessee Super Lawyer—an honor reserved for the top attorneys as determined by peer recognition and professional achievement. She was also invited to present at the ABA Family Law Section Spring Conference and is a nationally recognized speaker on topics including attorney wellness, emotional intelligence in practice, and managing high-conflict personalities.

Anne has served as Chair of the Family Law Section of the Memphis Bar Association and remains actively involved in the American Bar Association, the Nashville Bar Association, and the Association for Women Attorneys. She is a graduate of the prestigious ABA Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute and a member of the inaugural class of Tennessee Leadership.

In addition to her legal practice, Anne regularly teaches continuing legal education courses, including her popular presentation “Dealing with Clients and Opposing Counsel (Even the Tough Ones),” which helps fellow attorneys improve communication, set boundaries, and uphold professionalism in adversarial environments.
