Understanding the Montana CLE Requirement
Total CLE Requirement:
15 credit hours annually
5 credits may be completed online
13 hours General
2 hours Legal Ethics/Professionalism
*Please note that Montana has a 6-week grace period during which you may earn and report CLE credits without penalty.This means you may attend CLE programs up until May 15 to meet the requirement for the year ending March 31 without being assessed a late fee.
*COVID-19 Temporary Change: Per The Supreme Court of Montana Commission of Continuing Legal Education NO LATE FEES WILL BE ASSESSED AS LONG AS CREDITS ARE EARNED AND REPORTED ON OR BEFORE MAY 15, 2020.
Newly Admitted Requirement:
New admittees are exempt from the CLE requirement during the first reporting year in which they are licensed.
