Mississippi CLE Requirements

12 credit hours annually

6 hours must be taken live
6 may be completed online

11 hours General
1 hour: Ethics, Professional Responsibility, Professionalism, Malpractice Prevention, Substance Abuse, or Mental Health

CLE must be earned by July 31 each year and reported to the Commission on the CLE Annual Report Statement by August 15. The CLE Annual Report Statement is mailed out to attorneys in June of each year. On it will be posted any CLE that has been reported to the CLE Commission at the time of its printing. Any additional CLE earned for the year may be added to this form (Rule 5).

Newly admitted attorneys must complete a 12 credit new-lawyer program which includes 6 hours of basic skills training and 6 hours of ethics/professionalism within their first 2 years of admission.

Attorneys who are newly licensed to practice in Mississippi but were previously admitted to practice in another state may be exempted from the 6 hours of basic skills if they submit an affidavit to the Mississippi Commission on Continuing Legal Education within 3 months of admission.
