Understanding the Kansas CLE Requirement

Total CLE Requirement:

12 credit hours annually

Credit Format:

*6 hours must be taken live
*6 may be completed online

Credit Breakdown:

10 hours General
At least 2 hours of Ethics/Professionalism
Up to 2 hours of Law Practice Management

Compliance Deadline:

June 30

*COVID-19 Temporary Change: The following Kansas Supreme Court Rules are modified as follows for the 2020-2022 compliance periods:

The credit hour limitation on prerecorded programming is waived for the 2020-2021 AND 2021-22 compliance periods. Prerecorded programs must still meet the guidelines required for accreditation. All credits may be completed through online programming through June 30, 2022. Order dated April 7, 2021.

Newly Admitted Requirement:

New attorneys are exempt from CLE requirements during the first compliance period of their admission.
