About The Lecturer

Alex Herd is the Managing Attorney of the Herd Law Office LLC, a transactional and litigation firm based in Uniondale, New York. Alex started the Herd Law Office in 2024 with one goal in mind: to help people build, grow, and protect their businesses and non-profit organizations. His practice includes mergers, acquisitions, and ownership transitions; business formation and structuring; contracts and internal policies; outside general counsel services; internal business disputes, including business divorce; employment and HR compliance; and non-profit counsel and compliance.

Alex helps clients break through the intricacies of legal issues while providing affordable solutions that are easy to understand. By simplifying complex areas of the law, he empowers clients to make independent and effective decisions. More than just advising on the law, Alex aims to become a long-term strategic partner, helping business owners achieve their goals through personalized, efficient service.

Prior to creating the Herd Law Office, Alex worked exclusively for boutique law firms that shared the same goal of providing cost-effective services to small and mid-sized businesses and non-profits through a hands-on approach where the clients’ goals always came first. Alex has been published on topics such as why ethical practices are good for businesses and how clients can benefit from using outside general counsel services. He has also taught multiple Continuing Legal Education courses on topics including petitioning the New York State Attorney General’s Office, structuring an outside general counsel practice, and ethical considerations for promoting legal services through social media.

Alex earned his J.D. from American University Washington College of Law in 2014 and his B.A. from Marist College in 2011. He is admitted to practice in New York and before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
