About The Lecturer

Alexander Dubin is the Managing Partner of The Law Office of Alexander Dubin, a New York-based boutique practice specializing in business and transactional law with a focus on gaming, sports wagering, and emerging wagering technologies.

Alex trained as an associate at DLA Piper US and Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP, where he developed a foundation in sophisticated commercial transactions and complex regulatory matters. Prior to founding his own practice, Alex spent a year as an attorney at Freeh Group International Solutions (FGIS), an investigations and risk management firm founded and run by former FBI Director Louis Freeh. While at FGIS, Alex advised on multiple domestic and international matters, including the BP claims payment regime administered in New Orleans in the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, one of the largest and most complex mass claims administration programs in U.S. history.

Since founding the firm, Alex has built a reputation at the intersection of gaming regulation and commercial law, advising market participants across the full lifecycle of wagering product development, from entity formation and licensing strategy through contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution. Among his most distinctive engagements, Alex serves as counsel to some of the most successful professional gamblers and advantage players in the world, advising on structuring, staking arrangements, contractor relationships, and the legal landscape governing high-volume wagering activity across regulated jurisdictions.

Alex's practice has evolved alongside the industry itself, from the emergence of daily fantasy sports through the landmark repeal of PASPA in 2018 and the intricate, state-by-state regulatory frameworks that have developed in its wake, as jurisdictions across the country continue to grapple with the rapid expansion of online gaming in divergent and often competing ways. Alex currently advises market makers and institutional participants in prediction markets, including work on futures participant agreements, market-making compliance frameworks, and CFTC regulatory considerations for novel wagering instruments. He has analyzed and negotiated platform agreements for professional liquidity providers operating on leading prediction market platforms, including Kalshi, Polymarket, and Novig — an area where regulatory guidance remains nascent and practitioner expertise is limited.

On the sports wagering side of the practice, Alex has counseled clients on multi-state compliance, operator agreements, market access structures, revenue-sharing arrangements, and the legal contours of emerging wagering products across regulated jurisdictions across the United States. Alex has authored formal legal opinions on the permissibility of complex wagering arrangements and has served as an expert source on prediction market regulatory developments, including contributing commentary on gaming law and sports betting trends through industry podcasts, conference panels, and the Sports Business Journal, addressing the evolving legal and regulatory landscape surrounding sports wagering, prediction markets, and emerging betting technologies.

Alex's transactional work encompasses LLC formations with multi-class equity structures, employment and equity incentive agreements, contractor and partnership arrangements, and commercial dispute resolution. He has represented clients in high-stakes commercial negotiations and settlement matters involving major gaming industry counterparties, including Caesars Entertainment, Inc., MGM Resorts International, FanDuel Group Inc., and DraftKings Inc., among others. Across this body of work, Alex has established himself as a recognized voice on the legal challenges posed by the convergence of sports wagering, prediction markets, and digital finance and as a practitioner who has built his practice in step with one of the most rapidly evolving areas of American law.
