About The Lecturer
Yelena Ambartsumian is the Founder and Managing Attorney of AMBART LAW PLLC (www.ambartlaw.com), a New York boutique law firm built for AI-enabled and SaaS companies. She counsels AI-native and AI-enabled B2B SaaS and consumer-technology companies on AI governance and product counseling, data privacy, and commercial contracts.
Yelena previously practiced as a Senior Associate in Milbank LLP's Litigation & Arbitration group, where she handled complex commercial and bet-the-company litigation, as well as regulatory investigations—including SEC and state Attorney General matters. She later left to launch her own AI art technology startup that used machine learning to generate insights into art collector behavior (in late 2019, when most investors had no idea what she was talking about), and she has also served as General Counsel for an engineering company. In late 2024, she founded AMBART LAW so that she could counsel the companies now building, and building with, AI.
Yelena holds the Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP) and Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) certifications from the IAPP. She co-chairs the IAPP's New York KnowledgeNet Chapter, chairs the Fractional GCs in AI Governance chapter at Women in AI Governance, and is the Angel Co-Chair of the Science & Technology Angels Network (STAN) New York Chapter. She is the author of The AI Governance & Contracting Playbook (AMBART LAW, 2026), has published a Harvard International Law Journal article on the copyright registration of AI-generated works, and has been quoted on AI and copyright in Law360 and the New York Times.
