About The Lecturer
Yvonne R. Cort is a Partner at Capell Barnett Matalon & Schoenfeld LLP, where she focuses her practice on resolving Federal and New York State tax controversies. Whether audits, collection issues or other tax concerns, Yvonne brings a fresh perspective to tax solutions.
Yvonne has over twenty years’ experience representing individuals and businesses in audits, appeals, and collection matters. These include IRS and NYS audits and appeals, NYS and NYC residency audits, liens and levies, installment agreements and offers in compromise.
Yvonne has held numerous leadership positions in the profession, including Member-at-Large on the Executive Committee of the Tax Section of the NYS Bar Association; Chair of the IRS Practitioner Liaison Committee for downstate New York; and Chair of the Business Law, Tax, and Accounting Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association. Yvonne’s articles on tax topics have been featured in numerous accounting and legal publications. She is a regular speaker for many professional groups, and has been quoted by Bloomberg BNA, Crain’s New York, and Newsday.
Yvonne has been the recipient of many honors and awards, most recently receiving the Samuel Dyckman Excellence in Education Award, from the Nassau/Suffolk Chapter of the National Conference of CPA Practitioners. She has been selected for ten years as a NY Metro SuperLawyer, a designation given to only 5% of the lawyers in the state.
Yvonne received her B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Rochester, and her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. She is admitted to the Bar in New York and Pennsylvania, and admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court.
