AboutAbout This Course

In this course, we will discuss Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, its limitations, and how it has recently been interpreted by the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to prohibit discrimination in the workplace on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. We will analyze case law on the issue of discrimination against transgendered individuals, and the split in the way the circuits have ruled. The course will conclude with a discussion of state laws around the country, and what, if any, protection each state provides against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
